I am a wellness educator with backgrounds in public health, higher education, and strengths-based community engagement. My professional passion is working with vulnerable communities on issues of health and wellness, identity development, and social justice education. My focus is on the intersections of identity development and wellness -- how who we are impacts how we thrive. I marry these two worlds together throughout my professional life. As the Alcohol and Other Drugs Program Coordinator at the University of Maryland Health Center, I work with a team of remarkable health educators, advocates, and clinicians to promote empowered and safer decision making through education programs for the entire campus community. I advise on policy and campus-wide initiatives related to substance use, and chair the campus-wide Alcohol Coalition. I also work directly with students both in and out of the classroom environment, notably through the University Health Center's Peer Education Program. I am particularly invested in how substance use affects different student populations in different ways, and work with partners across campus to create data-driven interventions to support different student groups in ways that are tailored to meet their unique needs. Additionally, I co-facilitate the University Health Center's Meditation program as a Meditation Instructor.My most recent previous experience was as the Director of the Erin Levitas '11 Mind, Body, and Soul Empowerment Program at St. Timothy's School, a private girls' boarding high school in Stevenson, MD. In this role, I was responsible for creating innovative and engaging wellness education and programming, including conversations around substance use, sexual health, mental health, identity development, healthy relationships, self-care, power-based violence, active and global citizenship, and bystander intervention, through creative collaborations with partners both within and outside of the institution. I am also a freelance health educator with the WE CARE Collaborative, where I work with a team of educators, counselors, and resource experts to provide quality wellness education and programming throughout the DC-metro area. I graduated with a B.S. in Community Health from University of Maryland's School of Public Health in 2015, received my Certification in Prevention Leadership (CPL) from the EverFi Institute in 2016, and completed my Certification in Meditation Instruction (CTAA) in 2020. In my down time, I enjoy cooking, crafting, yoga, and playing with my cats, Nelli and Mercury.
