Hi there 👋🏼 I’m Madeline, a nurse by trade 🏥 and a writer by birth ✍🏼 who is passionate about helping people to find – and amplify – their voice 📣 At first glance, healthcare & writing may not seem to have much in common. But for me, they go hand in hand. You see, I’m a nurturer at heart. As a nurse, I find joy in nurturing my patients & providing them with top-notch care that makes them feel valued & heard. As a writer, I find fulfillment in nurturing my creativity through words & stories. And when I discovered I could use those words & stories to help others build their brand & better express their ideas to the world? Well, I struck creative gold.In my 10+ years of experience as a Registered Nurse (RN), I have cared for a diverse array of patients in various clinical fields. I began my career in Pediatric Oncology, where I worked with some of the smallest, bravest, & most vulnerable patients in my hospital. I quickly realized that there is no “paint by numbers” formula when it comes to caring for human beings. I learned how to preserve my patients’ dignity & advocate for their choices during some of life’s toughest moments. My emotional intelligence skyrocketed as I learned how to be what each individual patient needed in the moment. And, of course, I honed kickass nursing skills in a high-acuity setting. But after 4+ years, I was burned out. I advocated for myself, made a change, and accepted a job in Radiation Oncology. I learned a new skill set with a new patient population in an outpatient setting. I improved my work-life balance and became pregnant with my first child. My pregnancy & the birth of my son led me to a new passion and a strong pull to support women during labor & childbirth, so I took a job in Labor & Delivery and Postpartum Nursing. I love educating patients & walking them through the birth process from start to finish, tailoring my care to each individual & the vision they have for their birth. I also adore guiding new parents through the tender postpartum period & helping them adjust to life with a newborn. Meanwhile, working with women who often lacked support reminded me of the power of advocacy through writing. After all, how better to advocate for people than to share their stories? As a nurse, I’m a tireless advocate for my patients. And now, I’m ready to advocate for bonafide movers & shakers in competitive industries through written content creation.
