I am a recent graduate of SUNY Buffalo State’s Television and Film Arts program.The last year has been busy for me, but incredibly fulfilling creatively. This past fall, I took on two Executive Producer roles, one for a musical TV pilot, and one for a short film created for planetariums and VR setups. These two experiences have broadened my knowledge into the realms of music production and new forms of media consumption. Although these projects brought many obstacles, they ultimately enabled me to grow as an artist and learn to plan for the many unforeseeable challenges that this industry brings forth. I’ve furthered my knowledge from these experiences by taking part in internships that I feel have challenged me to look at the industry in ultimately, these experiences have reaffirmed my passion, specifically for producing television and film. During my internship at American High, I explored the script development process and honed my script coverage skills. It was really interesting to see all of the types of scripts that a production company receives and learning how to select scripts that cater to the specific stories a company is looking for was invaluable. While working at the Buffalo International Film Festival, I learned about what goes into the festival circuit behind the scenes, and how hectic, but ultimately fulfilling running a film festival can be.This past spring, I was an intern for Lion Television USA. I helped a lot with development research and transcriptions, both of which I thoroughly enjoyed. Getting to work in an office environment, attend meetings, and work on projects with the staff was the highlight of my final semester as a college student. I learned a lot about how production decisions are made, and seeing the entire process of initial idea to final cut was very informative. Throughout all of my internships, I have fallen in love with the development and research process, and am actively looking for roles that are involved in that area.
