I am a graduate of the University of Iowa's School of Public Health. I earned my Master's Degree in Healthcare Administration and currently hold the position of Practice Administrator for Childrens Hospital New Orleans. Upon graduation from Iowa, I began an administrative fellowship at Ochsner Health System. During my Administrative Fellowship at Ochsner I have managed over 50 primary care providers and over 60 employees. I have learned the importance of interdisciplinary communication by speaking with patients, staff, and providers. I received my lean six sigma yellow belt and have learned the importance of cutting waste, and creating a more efficient system in the ever - evolving healthcare environment. I have observed and fostered cross - region communication amongst service lines in order to learn best practices, establish a network and create committees in order to create a development plan for a new Center of Excellence. My fellowship has been an invaluable experience and I have learned that communication and teamwork is at the root of success, especially in healthcare.After my Fellowship I managed several multi specialty departments: Rheum, ENT, Ophthalmology, Optometry and Audiology and was able to use my green and yellow belt in six sigma certification to good use! This included 20 providers and 30 staff members. During my year and a half I standardized the Ophthalmology/optometry tech work up to streamline through put and therefore increase volume with the saved time. The CGCAPS scores for the Ophthalmology clinic also improved from the 39th percentile to the 63rd percentile over three months. The action plan that was the catalyst to this improvement was identifying the reasons for low scores and communicating with the providers and staff the action items needed to improve the patient experience for the dept.
