This is a community healthcare role working with both adults and adolescents living with serious mental illness and intellectual disabilities. I work in a hybrid environment to provide 1-on-1 nutrition counseling to clients via telehealth and telephone. I provide nutrition education and counseling for a variety of nutrition-related issues commonly seen in behavioral health populations including chronic disease, food insecurity, substance use, and disordered eating. I help clients build skills such as cooking, meal planning, and grocery shopping. Together we work on building a better relationship with food while navigating complex mental health struggles. I create educational content and conduct group nutrition classes at behavioral health respite centers with up to 20 attendees per group.I am part of the tobacco cessation team where I train staff on the proper methods for helping clients quit tobacco.

I work in an outpatient setting with adolescents and their families to help guide them through various stages of eating disorder recovery using a weight-neutral and non-diet approach

I led nutrition education groups in behavioral health hospitals while encouraging patient commentary and open dialogue about nutrition beliefs. I performed 1:1 nutrition consultations to provide MNT for a variety of issues specific to the behavioral health population such as substance abuse, food insecurity, medication side effects, and eating disorders. I fulfilled foodservice duties by conducting kitchen and tray audits to ensure food safety and diet order accuracy.
