I work in quality control to make the production of gluten free Cheerios as productive and as efficient as possible. To do this, I analyze samples of oats that are brought into the laboratory by looking for and taking scientific data for gluten containing items (such as rye, wheat, and barley), and based on my findings, the operators of the mill can clean the oats to the degree needed for the Cheerios to be considered ‘gluten free’. This process is important not only for keeping the quality of Cheerios exceptional, but also for the people with gluten intolerance that wouldn’t have been able to eat Cheerios before.

I completed financial responsibilities daily that ensured consistent and accurate deposits of the previous day, supervised shifts with team members that resulted in excellent interactions with customers and preparation for the next shift, trained new team members about responsibilities and duties of the job, and effectively communicated between team members and manager to promote communication and high performance within the store.

As a Disaster and Preparedness Reporting Intern, my duties included gathering and reporting disaster and preparedness/public health data to look for progression in projects and to find ways to improve the projects in the future, train volunteers on how to accurately complete disaster and preparedness reporting to promote efficiency within the system, taught classes on disaster preparedness to young children for promotion of safety in communities, and communicating with other entities in the area, such as the local public health department, to encourage collaboration and result in effective emergency preparedness in the community.
