As a dedicated physics student at The University of Melbourne, I am passionate about exploring the fundamental laws and principles that underpin our universe. My academic journey has involved both theoretical and experimental components in physics, mathematics and computing, and was enriched by hands-on research within the X-LAB as part of the Laby Research Scholars Program. My passion for physics and mathematics extends beyond my own personal studies and research, into outreach programs that I have contributed to such as the In2Science STEM Mentoring program as well as being a member of the University of Melbourne's Physics Outreach Team.In addition to outreach programs, I am a passionate an enthusiastic tutor working both independently and through other companies and continue seek work that allows me to share my love of science with others. After completion of my Bachelor of Science (Physics), I intend on continuing my studies in a Master of Science (Physics) specialising in theoretical particle physics. Within the field, I hope to contribute to research beyond the standard model, quantum decoherence, theories of quantised gravity, and high energy astrophysics. In addition to particle physics, I have a particular interest in symmetry models and instabilities as well as general relativity and mathematical models that underpin natural systems such as Turing patterns and structural colour in insects.I am eager to connect with professionals and organisations that share my love of physics and explore opportunities for professional growth and development.

Laby Research ScholarUniversity Of Melbourne Jan 2024 - Feb 2024Melbourne, Victoria, AustraliaThe Laby Research Scholars Program provides outstanding students with a supervised introduction to research in physics over a 4-week period. The program is highly competitive, with only 9 projects offered.I worked on the project Experimental Commissioning in the X-LAB (X-band Laboratory for Accelerators and Beams): A first in the Southern Hemisphere which is supervised by A/Prof Suzie Sheehy and Dr Matteo Volpi. As of early January, I have examined the frequency response of waveguide components commissioned for the MELBOX, a kylystron-based X-band test strand, by CERN using a Vector Networker Analyser and a bandwidth of relevant frequencies in preparation for installation in the MELBOX. Analysis was conducted on the scattering parameters (s-parameters) which describes the coupling between ports, providing details of wave transmission and reflection over junctions and through directional couplers. In addition to analysis of s-parameters, power measurement and analysis was conducted across the klystrons to measure outputs. After the project's completion, an academic poster was made and presented to the Accelerator Physics group and to wider audience at a Laby Scholar Poster Session. For Open Day, tours were offered into the X-LAB and details were given on research projects and the laboratory to guests. -
