My roles included leading a collaborative grant writing process, updating the organization's website, developing my marketing skills, and creating a proposal for a community "adopt-a-planter" program. Currently, I administer a grant from the NC Forest Service's Urban & Community Forestry Grant Program to map and inventory the tree canopy in the Uptown District. My main project involved building relationships with other local nonprofits, the City of Greenville, and East Carolina University faculty to support a tree inventory project of the Central Business District. For this project, I wrote a grant application to cover consultant and equipment costs, and incorporated community engagement and education opportunities to build support for increasing green infrastructure. As an office manager in the Adventure Program at ECU, I have been able to co-lead wilderness trips for ECU students and have gained certifications in Wilderness First Aid and belaying (for rock climbing). Through these experiences, I've developed my teambuilding and encouragement skills, planning/coordination abilities, and have learned how to make decisions under pressure.

I also wrote a report to assess beach erosion in relation to the terminal groin on Bald Head Island and determine its effectiveness as an erosion control measure. At Brookgreen, I gained experience in propagation, planting design, pruning, and general garden maintenance. I also had the opportunity to help plan and lead a children's nature lesson and drafted a plan for the renovation of a garden bed.
