Fulfill duties as Treasurer and Advisory Council member including but not limited to attending regularly scheduled teleconferences with company Chief Financial Officer as Council Treasurer, quarterly in-person Council meetings, as well as, community based awareness and advocacy events.Monitor potential abuses facing North Carolina’s mental health community to provide protection and advocacy to the most vulnerable service users Evaluate and monitor the implementation of best practices of mental health care facilities throughout North Carolina and address instances of human rights violations or abuse within mental health care facilities.Contribute personal and professional expertise and advisement to NCDR staff and state board of directors in order to further the protection and advocacy of all persons in North Carolina receiving mental health services, especially service recipients receiving care in restrictive environments such as jails, state psychiatric hospitals, group homes, and/ot residential treatment facilities. Work closely with fellow council members, the NCDR organization at large, and involved state leaders, to ensure the federally funded agency adequately provides support, protections, and advocacy for the mentally ill. Ensure North Carolina’s compliance to meeting judicial mandates related to the Olmstead Decision by monitoring state directed provision of supports and services that facilitate transitions to community living.
