As the treasurer of NARPA I serve as the principal internal control, signatory, and fiscal monitor over the organization's financial holdings and future financial positions. As an executive committee member I work to ensure the executive committee members and directors of the board stay informed about the financial aspects of NARPA's ongoing activity to provide recommendations regarding financial aspects of the organization, ensure the organization maintains financial viability, to provide oversight on financial affairs of the organization. I work closely with the Administrator to ensure the ongoing day-to-day activities of the organization are supported by NARPA's financial assets and supportive of the organization's sustained viability.

Although still in its infancy Madhouse Innovations was created first and foremost to serve peers and the mental health community of which we are a part of to manifest and sustain a thriving peer led community that can connect individuals living alongside a mental health condition at any point in their journey. Madhouse Community intends to provide an online community in which peers can gather for peer support, personal development, collaboration, and community partnerships.Madhouse Innovations strives to create a community of support that will empower the voices of peers and foster collaborative efforts to enhance recovery, and improve outcomes, to manifest total wellness among peers and among the communities they are a member of.

Fulfill duties as Treasurer and Advisory Council member including but not limited to attending regularly scheduled teleconferences with company Chief Financial Officer as Council Treasurer, quarterly in-person Council meetings, as well as, community based awareness and advocacy events.Monitor potential abuses facing North Carolina’s mental health community to provide protection and advocacy to the most vulnerable service users Evaluate and monitor the implementation of best practices of mental health care facilities throughout North Carolina and address instances of human rights violations or abuse within mental health care facilities.Contribute personal and professional expertise and advisement to NCDR staff and state board of directors in order to further the protection and advocacy of all persons in North Carolina receiving mental health services, especially service recipients receiving care in restrictive environments such as jails, state psychiatric hospitals, group homes, and/ot residential treatment facilities. Work closely  with fellow council members, the NCDR organization at large, and involved state  leaders, to ensure the federally funded agency adequately provides support,  protections, and advocacy for the mentally ill. Ensure North Carolina’s compliance to meeting judicial mandates related to the Olmstead Decision by monitoring state directed provision of supports and services that facilitate transitions to community living.

My involvement with the NAMI organization began locally working with NAMI  Guilford, which I remain actively involved as a member of the affiliate board of  directors. Initially my involvement pertained to advocacy and various volunteer  and service roles related to community outreach, consciousness raising, and local  or state-level advocacy efforts. I have furthered my involvement since 2014 and  currently am actively engaged with NAMI at all levels of the organization (county,  state, and national). Through this access I actively work to relay and advocate for  the perspective and needs of the lived experience, which entails a high degree of  collaboration, network development, research, and persistence.   At this time my primary leadership position pertains to my election to the  position of Peer Leadership Council Chair for NAMI NC. As the Chair of  NAMI-NC’s PLC I am responsible for revitalizing and redeveloping the  operational capacity of NAMI-NC’s peer advisory council. Further I represent the  state of North Carolina as the State Peer Representative to the NAMI National  Peer Leadership Council, therefore my involvement in issues pertaining to adults  with SMI includes working with peers and involved parties across the nation. My  role as the chair of NAMI NC’s PLC entails a high degree of involvement and  engagement with the state Department of Mental Health and North Carolina  Department of Human and Health Services broadly. Additionally it requires  ongoing community partnerships to ensure peer advocates are recognized and  adequately engaged. At this time my involvement also entails assisting or devising  community-based initiatives that improve community integration among adults  with severe mental illness, which can be implemented with available grant  funding.

As Web Administrator for the NAMI Guilford website I am responsible for keeping the site current and active. Integrating social media platforms to make our online services more accessible and to promote the visibility and reach of our online presence to encourage community involvement and provide crucial mental health resources for community members.

Principal developer of Training of Trainers portion of Integrated Approaches’ North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist (NCCPSS) curriculum.Work alongside Integrated Approaches’ founder in the development and completion of an enhanced NCCPSS Curriculum whose guiding principles include best practices, health equity, and trauma informed care.Effectively incorporate learning objectives as outlined by North Carolina’s Peer Support Specialist Curriculum requirements.Create and structure NCCPSS Training of Trainers course outline and course manual according to state guidelines for the facilitation of Integrated Approaches’ NCCPSS Training of Trainers.
