I had the privilege of getting to work with and mentor Madeline Lester in a supervisory capacity in the early part of her career as a Production Assistant within the radio division. Her aptitude for the position and her eagerness to learn were what impressed me from the beginning. Madeline proved to be a very good writer from the outset, with a keen eye to understand key issues of any given assignment in the form of crisp and sharp prose. Her audio editing skills were sharp right from the get-go. After some basic instruction from me and other senior members of the audio newsgathering desk, Madeline was able to work independently, with increased speed and accuracy as her confidence grew. In fact during the bulk of 2020 and 2021 when so many of us were working from home our production output did not decrease one iota, instead it more than doubled. That increase in production and the quality of that product is directly attributable to Madeline and her fellow P-A's.
