Hi, I'm Madeline! I am interested in better understanding how the products we consume and the characteristics of our environment can robustly affect our perceptions and behaviors. This — paired with my broader desire to learn what makes people tick — has led me to pursue a career in sensory and consumer science. I have learned how human-centric, data-driven methods can be harnessed to provide the best experiences to consumers, whether in terms of food (where I am formally trained) or personal care (what I do in my current role), among other product categories.During my Food Science Master's program, my research focused on discovering how aspects of food texture, such as unit size and inclusion of dip, can influence how much and how fast we eat in snacking contexts. While my goal as a sensory and consumer scientist is to help people love the foods they eat and the products they use, I also strive to use my knowledge to work toward improved public health. Now, my work in the personal care industry builds on this aim and helps me expand my understanding of consumers in a new context.
