Madeline Pages Email and Phone Number
Madeline Pages (she/her/hers) is a dramaturg. She holds an MFA from the David Geffen School of Drama at Yale University (formerly Yale School of Drama). As a dramaturg and theater practitioner, Madeline collaborates with and supports the work of directors, playwrights, actors, designers, stage managers, and technical production crew members with her expertise in theater history and performance studies, her skills as a researcher and writer, and her abilities to analyze narrative structure and consider a work of art from the perspective of an outside audience member. She thrives in non-traditional art-making settings, where hierarchies are flattened and experimentation is forefronted. As a scholar, she is most passionate about bridging the fields of performing arts and science/technology studies, though her research within the field of theater is varied. In 2022, her essay “Theatre of Isolation” appeared in The Journal of American Drama and Theatre (JADT). As an administrator in organizations dedicated to arts and culture, she is highly organized, comfortable under pressure, a strong communicator and collaborator, and a creative problem-solver. Most importantly, Madeline is dedicated to education. She is passionate about improving education accessibility and inclusivity for all young people through creative youth programming outside of the traditional classroom environment.

Dramaturg And ResearcherSelf Employed 2017 - PresentAs a formally trained dramaturg, I am professionally well-versed in theater history; performance theory; areas of cultural studies relevant to performance, sociality, and ethnography; dramatic literature; and storytelling and narrative structure. My practical training also includes instruction in critical writing for academic and general audiences about theater, art, and culture; curation for live events, installations, and publications; relationship building with playwrights, directors, actors, and other artists in order to provide support for live productions and workshops; and conducting formal academic and informal research. I put all of this training and these skills to work as a freelance contractor on short- and long-term projects in the arts and related fields. Examples of this varied work include:-collaborating with nine other artists on the writing and development of a new opera about Alan Turing and artificial intelligence-conducting research on the life and careers on the recipients of Theatre For A New Audience's Samuel H. Scripps Award for two consecutive seasons-reading and reporting on script submissions for theater companies such as Yale Rep and Theatre For A New Audience-meeting with playwrights to discuss and develop ideas for their new plays-assisting the Program Coordinator of History Matters/Back to the Future, an organization which "promotes the study and production of women’s plays of the past in colleges and universities and theatres throughout the country and encourages responses to those plays from contemporary playwrights," in hosting a live award ceremony for the 2018 Judith Barlow Prize at the Cherry Lane Theatre -
