I am currently a Texas A&M Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) student, set to graduate in August 2020. I pursued my education in nursing because I believe it presents me with unique opportunities to positively impact the lives of my fellow community members. The dynamic structure of the field of nursing allows me to constantly push myself to expand my knowledge, critical thinking, and skill-sets to best meet the needs of my clients. The component of nursing that resonates with me the most is the opportunity to provide direct bedside care and foster therapeutic relationships with my clients during their time of need. Hospitalization is often accompanied by stress, fear, and a perceived lack of control. Clients' routines have likely been disrupted, placing them in an unfamiliar environment. I am prepared to try to mitigate this difficult experience by providing compassionate, dependable, atraumatic care, in which each client and family member is valued and heard. I intend to combine my aspirations of nursing with my passion for the field of psychology, by ideally building a career in pediatric behavioral health nursing.
