Development Manager, Individual Giving
Current
Director Of Strategic Engagement & Communications
I drove the development of strategic digital engagement campaigns and fundraising strategies supported by data-driven decisions, inclusive collaboration, research, and operational improvements. Specifically, I was responsible for the management of data, resources, implementation, and internal reporting of all fundraising and engagement efforts, including our robust Workplace Giving and Individual Giving campaigns. In July 2019, I launched Pride United, a giving group that has raised over $100,000 in support of local nonprofits providing critical programs and services for our LGBTQ+ community. As the Director of Pride United, I managed all aspects of our work including performing digital fundraising outreach, securing corporate sponsorships and partnerships, overseeing an Advisory Board and collaborating with a committee to review and award grants. I ran Pride United in a groundbreaking, inclusive, and very strategic manner where everyone’s capacity for a meaningful gift is appreciated, breaking the cycle of “traditional” philanthropy that has a history of being exclusive.Another important aspect of my work was solely overseeing and operating our complex CRM database, Andar/360.
Communications & Marketing Student Assistant- Center For Community Engagement
In looking for a job as a young college student, I knew I wanted to be in a position that would greatly benefit the big career goals I have for myself. I found that and more at the Center for Community Engagement (CCE). The CCE connects campus with community. In the small office, I learned to prioritize, multitask, and lead with confidence, even when faced with new, challenging roles. My time working for the CCE affirmed by desire to always be civically engaged and involved in my community. I created weekly newsletter emails sent to students, faculty, and nonprofit organizations. I learned to use many digital products and systems effectively, mainly Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, Hootsuite, and Constant Contact. I also wrote 17 engaging blog posts for the CCE's Blog with topics ranging from service-learning, nonprofit partnership, local government, reflections on community events, and more.
Summer Conference Assistant- Conference And Event Services
My summer job following my first year of college taught me the true meaning of hard work. I cleaned dorm rooms before, during, and after summer conferences for clients of all ages. I was often tasked with lots of work in a short amount of time so I quickly found that collaborative team work and efficiency are keys to success.
Ticketing Sales And Services Representative
During the summertime, Sonoma Raceway is a fast-paced, dynamic, and thrilling environment. As a member of the vital Ticketing Department, I provided excellent customer service to guests over the phone, via online chat, and in person during events. The many facets of the position made for an exciting and rewarding summer job!
Student Organizing & Advocacy Intern
My internship began during a pivotal time for me, I was a Junior and trying to determine my path after graduation. It was also a crucial time in the CSU system, a tuition moratorium was ending and the Board announced they were proposing a tuition increase. Working with CFA leadership, I learned to organize and advocate for an accessible, affordable, and quality higher education for all. I specifically advocated the timely issue of the tuition increase by creating a year-long digital campaign that was easy to understand and get behind- #FreeTheCSU. In an effort to meet my target audience where they are, I designed a statewide social media campaign where students and faculty shared short videos on how the tuition increase would negatively impact their lives. I also helped organized two rallies during CSU Board of Trustees meetings where we expressed our opposition and concerns for the tuition increase. Although the tuition increase passed with 11-8 votes, we took pride in the fact that this was the first time in CSU history that a tuition increase was not unanimously approved. While also fighting the tuition increase, I led a grassroots student coalition called Students for Quality Education that focused on the specific issues at our campus like the asbestos found in our main building, and the emerging fear of students being deported. We rallied, dropped large banners around campus, and met with administration to combat these issues.I had the opportunity to travel to Sacramento and lobby California State Representatives to enact policy that aligned with our mission. This internship truly showed me the power that people with a common goal have when we stand together. I found a passion for social justice and I'm forever grateful for this experience.
