As a graduate student at MIT, I examined the role of microRNAs in the development of cancer. In these studies, I found components of the microRNA pathway are tumor suppressors and are likely to be mutated frequently in human cancer.As a cancer biologist in my work as a postdoctoral fellow in London and as a scientist in Toronto, I examined various aspects of lung cancer diagnosis and therapy, including the analysis of combination therapies in KRAS-mutant disease, the potential of immune checkpoint therapies in cancer, and the potential use of circulating tumor DNA as an early detection diagnostic. In such work, I performed pre-clinical investigations of chemotherapies, targeted therapies, and immune therapies in experimental models of solid cancers like lung cancer. Further, I analyzed findings from clinical trials for the design of improved preclinical studies in experimental models. In these positions, I managed a research team including a senior scientist, a graduate student, research technicians, and undergraduates.As a scientific advisor at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati in New York, I drafted both national and international patent applications related to various technologies, including pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical devices, and telecommunications. In this capacity, I interacted with associates, senior partners, and clients ranging from individual inventors to small- to mid-size pharmaceutical companies to Fortune 500 chemical manufacturing companies. I was further involved in intellectual property due diligence for clients in anticipation of rounds of financing. Finally, I performed freedom to operate searches for various clients to assist in determining both patentability and potential future business development opportunities.I am currently training in various aspects of business development, including financial analysis, accounting, and systems optimization.
