At KaviKrishna Laboratory in IIT Guwahati, my project was focused on the methodologies for identification of Mycobacterium tuberculosis using the H37Ra strain in BSL-3 setup. Through the course of my internship, I have learnt techniques like smearing, acid-fast staining, cell culturing techniques for Mycobacterium tuberculosis (causative agent for TB), Agarose Gel Electrophoresis, Duplex PCR in a BSL-3 set up. Apart from the mentioned techniques, I have done DNA extraction of the cultured sample and run it on Agarose gel electrophoresis, followed by visualization to continue the success of DNA extraction procedure.
