I am a research intern pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Biotechnology at Endicott College in Beverly, Massachusetts. During the summer and winter months, I work at New England Biolabs as a full-time research intern in Protein Expression and Modification with the objective to discover enzymes. I have recently contributed to the discovery of a novel sulfatase, which is included in a poster presentation and a manuscript publication. My experience at New England Biolabs along with my undergraduate experience has shaped me as a successful intern. I have taken lecture and lab courses in Principles of Biology I and II, Genetics, Microbiology, Evolutionary Developments, and Organic Chemistry I and II, which have further confirmed my interest in scientific research. I have experience working with pipettors, microscopes, spectrophotometers, PCR thermocyclers, centrifuges, incubators, and shakers. I have also performed techniques such as PCR, enzyme assays, E. coli transformation, in vitro and in vivo protein expression, enzyme purification, and DNA purification. I am eager to expand my knowledge and experience in the field of biological research as I am dedicated to a career in STEM. I hope to forge new connections with other fellow researchers.
