About Madison James, Mph, Pmp

We have nothing if we don't have health. I work in public health because I believe that health is the most kind thing you can offer another and it is imperative that we create systems which provide this to everyone. I completed my undergraduate degrees from the Honors College at the College of Charleston in Biology (BS) and International Studies (BA) with a concentration in Latin America and the Caribbean. While I affectionately refer to this as my "DIY" public health degree, I believe the rigorous training I received in both the hard sciences with humanities has well prepared me to understand the relationship between biological and systems level causes of disease. Currently I am pursing my MPH with the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill Gillings School of Public Health to formalize my public health training and provide me with the mathematical tools to support my public health practice. Upon graduating from College of Charleston, I accepted a role with the Centers for Disease Control Public Health Associate Program which placed me at the Kentucky Department for Public Health. While here I worked in the Harm Reduction and Workforce Development programs. These roles affirmed my passion and potential for success in this field. Currently I work in project management for the Resource Generation Branch at Partners In Health. In this role, I lead the work of key initiatives such as the organization's End ofYear campaign or mass-market fundraising for a Cyclone Response. In this position, my skills in communication, strategic prioritization, and time management have grown tremendously.
