Through the Federal Work Study (FWS) program, I am currently helping Dr. Kelly Evenson conduct a research project titled "Strengthening Existing and Facilitating New Vision Zero Plans". A Vision Zero plan is a public document that provides the vision for future efforts to reduce traffic fatalities and serious injuries to zero. Vision Zero planning could be enhanced through guidance on developing a high-quality plan.This project seeks to accomplish multiple aims, including an inventory of existing Vision Zero plans and development of a guidance document on high quality Vision Zero components with expert input.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is the nation's health protection agency, saving lives and protecting people from health, safety, and security threats 24/7. The federal agency conducts and supports health promotion, prevention and preparedness activities in the United States, with the goal of improving overall public health.I participated in CDC's Student Worksite Experience Program (SWEP) to work, learn, and better understand the intersection between the government - specifically Health and Human Services - and policies, procedures, and published research that affects the everyday lives of Americans.As an intern in the Division of Scientific Education and Professional Development (DSEPD), I assisted with CDC Fellowship Workforce Planning in order to survey and assess CIO needs for hires, funding, and feedback on programs of significance out of seventy fellowships total. My background as a shadow student and research analyst intern in epidemiology at Eisenhower Medical Center granted me this amazing opportunity to further my education and subsequent career pathway.

- Assisted in a number of hospital quality improvement initiatives, including but not limited to: water safety management, infection prevention and control, data governance, antibiotic stewardship, and grant writing and management- Developed electronic audit forms for hospital staff hand hygiene monitoring with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) EpiInfo™ 7 software- Prepared state-mandated reportable infections data report for hospital executive leadership- Managed community engagement contact lists for the Coachella Valley Antibiotic Resistance Prevention Collaborative – a partnership of local healthcare facilities who work together to prevent the spread of antimicrobial resistance; made possible by funding from the Desert Healthcare District, through Eisenhower Health, with technical support provided in-kind by the California Department of Public Health’s Healthcare-Associated Infections Program. - Participated in Riverside County Public Health's Syphilis Community Collaborative to address the increase of Syphilis in the region.
