Throughout my undergraduate experience, I have sought out opportunities to learn more about human service fields. By the end of the fall 2024 semester, I will have completed 120 hours at Branch Creek Place, a senior center. I gained knowledge through working with older adults and people with disabilities. Through my supervisors, I learned about different human services in the area to support older adults. I obtained a sense of empathy and knowledge, developed active listening skills with coworkers and congregates, and guided older adults in activities of daily living. While attending college, I also have a part time job as a barista at the Omni Bedford Springs Resort. Balancing school and work have made me have sufficient time management skills. I can engage in high stress environments, can follow standardized procedures, and can maintain strong leadership skills in a fast-paced environment. Also, I have taken course work strongly related to the social work field. These include gender issues for helping professions, practice with individuals, groups, and communities and organizations. I'm a dedicated and focused student, and I'm ready to start my career in Social Work.
