As a researcher for the Sustainability Scholars, I have worked with my mentor to develop research from the collection of field data as well as through literature reviews on the cost-effectiveness and long-term return on investment. This has been used to encourage the Sustainability Department to consider implementing a large-scale low-temperature geothermal heating and cooling system.

As a researcher in CEWiT, I have had the valuable opportunity to see the successes of female scientists before me and have been encouraged to follow in their footsteps. After realizing the possibility of a STEM career, I have worked hard to develop my scientific and research skills. In this position, I conducted a risk assessment of the adverse health impacts of chronic exposure to methylmercury from fish consumption of residents in Charleston, South Carolina. I manipulated large data sets and utilized GIS ArcMaps to create visual platforms for better communication of risk.
