A volunteer position assigned to me through a non-governmental organization in Ghana, I had the chance to write English-language radio reports for a small station in rural Africa.It is as much different from American journalism as it is the same. For example, the harvest of 7,000 snapper fish in the states would not make news. There, it was covered for days because in small fishing villages in the developing world, it can mean the difference between wealth and poverty.This was just part of what I did while there, and what I learned will always stay close to me.
