I worked on several NIH-funded research grants aimed at building risk-prediction systems with machine learning algorithms and sensing technologies. I preprocessed sensitive survey data from a nationally-recruited cohort and validated participant’s responses through applying advanced statistical techniques. Currently, I am training a model using geolocation and self-report measures to predict lapses in individuals recovering from alcohol use disorder. A previous model based solely on self-report measures achieved an outstanding AUC of 0.91, far surpassing industry benchmarks. My updated model is a key step toward deploying real-time risk-prediction systems, improving access to continuous care in this chronic disorder.
