I am a teacher, in many ways. I have worked as a traditional classroom teacher, as an educational app developer, and now as an adult technical trainer. Through my years of teaching in different formats, I have stuck to the core beliefs I have had about technology education since my college experience. They are as follows:I believe the role of a technology and engineering educator is to guide learners in their mission to become technologically literate. The focus of education should not be on teaching, but instead, it should be on learning.Through hands-on, inquiry-based learning, I push learners to use their innate curiosity and creativity to learn about and interact with our technological world. The classroom is not limited to its four walls, but is a part of the community. Technology education classes should give learners an opportunity to solve real-world problems in their communities. Learning doesn't stop after high school and college, adult learners of any age have the potential to expand their horizons through technology education. Whether through virtual learning modules in mobile apps, or through training sessions at work, technology education can leave a lasting impact on learners of all ages.
