About Madison Poultney
I graduated in 2021 with a Bachelor of Arts in Environment and Urban Sustainability at Toronto Metropolitan University where I was placed on the Dean's list for my final year. From developing a strong interest in the subject, I made the decision to pursue my master's degree in Environment and Sustainability at Western University. Both programs have provided me with a wide range of competencies used in the sustainability field, including ecological restoration and corporate responsibility. Throughout my academic career, I have been able to apply many sustainability concepts learned through my work and volunteer experience. I developed skills in environmental education by creating interactive activities related to conservation for children at Yonge Street Mission in Toronto, and progressed this further through organizing community outreach and environmental engagement initiatives as a Sustainability Coordinator at Western University. I also have experience in environmental consulting projects where I helped outline climate-related risks, impacts, and opportunities to the business and supply chain of a company in the healthcare sector. I am one that learns best from taking an hands-on approach, which heightens my eagerness to get involved with various volunteer events. This includes my experience with Re-Forest London and Thames Talbot Land Trust where I received training in tree identification and ecological land classification from each one. Being able to educate people on what I have learned so far through my education and work experience has sparked my passion in Environmental Sustainability. Currently, I am seeking the opportunity to further enhance and develop skills with an organization that I can make a meaningful contribution towards.
