The I2C is a hub for tech start-ups in the NorthWest Alabama region. I am responsible for connecting I2C to the public on their social media platforms - Instagram, Twitter, Facebook. Through this, I have been given the opportunity to learn more about the businesses, their goals, and how they are wanting to portray their start up to the community. The goal of my position is to enhance follower engagement while educating the public on what I2C is.

In this position, I was able to work remotely by managing social media accounts for both Native or Not Huntsville and Native or Not Harford County. I was responsible for reposting and sharing local business success stories or events, updating the community on Native or Not's initiative, and connect with different influencers within the community.

Learning Community Leaders work closely with the First Year Experience classes in the UAH College of Business. In this role, I was required to be a mentor to first year students, schedule meeting times each week for the students in the FYE class, and plan lessons educating them about campus or college in general. This role exists to help accommodate the new students, help the adapt, but also be a leader to them academically and socially.

I was required to learn how to check availability online to place special orders and also learn the computer system the business uses (Quickbooks). Typically, I would sit down with customers, fit for the correct shoe size, and then grab shoes from the stock room for them to try on. I also cleaned the store and ran the cash register.

Boutique Therapy is a clothing store located in Arab, Alabama. I was responsible for assisting customers in choosing clothing items, starting a fitting room for them, and ringing up their items for purchase. I kept the storefront clean and neat, ensuring the clothes and other items are displayed in a way they can sell best. The social media platforms are a key aspect of my job and a platform I take pride in. I also had the opportunity to build an e-commerce website for sales via Square.

Arab, Alabama

Generations Footwear is a shoe store located in Arab, Alabama, carrying a wide variety of shoes. I would often help customers try on shoes or place orders for shoes they want, but we did not have in stock. I would also assist in running the social media and scheduling shoe show dates for the business. I learned many cash register and communication skills. When shipments arrive, I would stock the shoes received, check for special orders and notify the customers, and also take some shipments to the Guntersville location.
