As a Family Relations Captain for THON 2025, I work on the Adopt-A-Family Team. In this position, I grade all Adopt-A-Family applications from THON General/Special Interest Organizations as they are handed in to Family Relations and pair organizations with families based on application performance and strength of relationships with families. On the team, we facilitate over 5 educational workshops for these organizations who have the privilege to be a part of the Adopt-A-Family Program. Specifically on the team, I serve as the primary contact for the General/Special Interest Organizations and their respected paired Four Diamonds Families. I am responsible for trackacking these organizations’ efforts and activities with their paired THON Families throughout the year to ensure that organizations and THON Families are maintaining happy and supportive relationships within their pairings. With this, the Adopt-A-Family team also enforces our rules vert strictly. We highlight outstanding organizations and penalize organizations that do not fulfill their duties within AAF.

On the two person team of Professional Development, we were responsible for assisting in all internal chapter Professional Development opportunities. We spearhead multiple Professional Development workshops for our members to grow their LinkedIn, Resume, etc. We were able to collaborate with our alumni – older and newer – encouraging them to come guest speak to our members about internship opportunities at their companies, advice on different career paths, and to speak on professional experiences. More intimate parts of this role included participating in Professional and Leadership Development Seminars and one-on-one mentorship opportunities between us, chapter, and external people and resources.

In my first position in Phi Gamma Nu, I was very fortunate to be able to work so closely with my New Member Class, and upper chapter members to plan, organize, and facilitate various fundraisers throughout the semester. These fundraisers were to benefit our chapter activities and events for the 2023 fall semester.

In my first PSU involvement, I was recruited into a 50-member cohort for a 4-year certification program. The Sapphire Program represents approximately the top 5.00% of the Smeal Class of 2027. This program has allowed and encouraged me to advance my leadership skills through engaging in leadership and professional development as well as community service events. This program has provided me unique academic content, leadership, and professional development opportunities, and a real-world application of knowledge through community service and academic opportunities. Currently as an older member, I am able to act as a guide a first-year student in the Sapphire Program helping them to adjust to the culture and expectations of the elite program.

In my role as Family Relations Liaison on my OPPerations Committee, I led weekly briefs on THON family stories to grow the atmosphere of THON at every meeting. As a general OPP committee member, I assisted in the setup and teardown of THON weekend as well as sort waste and disposal to ensure sustainable practices were taken.

Throughout the duration of this internship, I crafted a Capstone Project on social media strategies compared between external companies, providing Penske with ideas and strategies they could implement as a leading global transportation service provider to better reach their marketing and advertising goals. I also conducted 12 interviews within the large marketing department to understand the intricacies of each position and sub-department as they relate and align with the company’s values and goals. In this hybrid internship, I attended daily department meetings -- both in person and virtually -- to gauge team members’ status on tasks, projects, responsibilities, and initiatives while gaining additional knowledge about their specific roles within the company.

Being a team member of this Not for Profit Arts Organizations, I had tasks and responsibilities that varied week to week. On a consistent basis, I updated daily community calendars with new information for the public and subscribers to the newsletter, as well as craft weekly press releases for local vendors to promote their events and activities to the local community.

In the Event Marketing Sector of operations at Santander, I was able to conduct many projects that taught me so much about the industry. Almost daily, I designed and wrote press releases and advertisements for all social media platforms and local radio stations to advertise, promote, and highlight upcoming and past events at the Performing Arts Center. On the days of events, I was responsible for escorting the press into events as well as overseeing the VIP customer relations for the 6 biggest events from January to June. Another event day responsibility that I was able to continue during and after my time as an intern, was selling merchandise at these large events. In all of these roles, I worked closely with marketing staff to provide the experience we advertise that is tailored to our customers.
