I am a nursing student at Linfield University School of Nursing working towards a BSN. I am in my final semester eager to work and advance my professional career. I am planning to take the NCLEX in early January and hope to begin working shortly after. I have worked 25 hours a week during my time in school, while also serving as the Communications Director for Associated Students of Linfield University (ASLU) and the Media Coordinator position for Linfield Student Nurses Association. During my time at Linfield I have enhanced my skills and broadened my clinical reasoning. I have had clinical rotations at Vibra Rehabilitation Center which specializes in tracheostomy care. I have also been able to have a rotation on the CVU at St. Vincent Medical Center. This semester I am doing my final rotations at the CVICU at Legacy Emanuel. I hope to become a heart nurse one day, even if I do not start on a CVU or CVICU. I am a fast learner, take responsibility for my actions, and can perform well both independently, and in a team setting. Over the last few years I have worked multiple customer service jobs including retail and food services. My time as a barista (2 years) has allowed me to gain an understanding of good time management and multitasking. I’ve been able to engage with individuals from many different walks of life. I have deescalated situations and found solutions to problems. I have been able to make my work site more efficient and offer insight into what customers are interested in. I also worked at the Linfield Campus Library as a Research Student, in this role I helped students find scholarly resources for personal and school related research. I also worked as an Electronic Media Services student where I learned how to fix computers and other technological equipment.
