Over the past few years, I managed to completely change my lifestyle. I moved to the mountains full-time, experienced true “nomadic life”, and left my city habits behind on behalf of nature conservation. I am full-time in all aspects of my life. When I was a young girl my father took me to the Monterey Bay Aquarium where I saw my first school of fish. I vividly remember scanning the towering aquarium walls above me, and I thought to myself, "If only I could swim among them." As I grew older, I became enthralled by the sea, and I quickly realized through research of my own these aquariums weren't painting the whole picture. Sure, there were signs in public places to discourage dumping your garbage, but back then people didn't talk so openly about microplastics, industrial waste, or agricultural and aquacultural runoff. Thus, I call my trip to the aquarium my "Environmental Awakening."I am eternally grateful to now have worked with a multitude of companies so beyond environmentally conscious, supportive, and involved. I have learned not only about the craft of merchandising and sales but of human impact and global issues. I have had the pleasure of interacting with my community daily regardless of background, gender, race, religious beliefs, or sexual orientation. I'm always supported by my professional peers in all of my endeavors both in and out of the workplace and I hope to one day leave that same support system behind for the future.My environmental journey is not even close to an end and I have much work to do. A few things I hope to do in the near future:• work alongside more environmental organizations nationwide• bring sustainability and environmental consciousness to the creative field of fashion!
