The FIG Assistant position offers exceptional undergraduate students the opportunity to be leaders and mentors to first year students participating in a Freshman Interest Group. FAs assist College Connections faculty in the development, planning and instruction of the course. FAs organize educational and social activities to better acquaint their students with each other, faculty members, and the University. These activities may include library orientation, study groups, lunch with a professor, field trips, and more.

As a Computer Based Note Taker I am assigned to individuals who are taking courses and are in need of extra support due to mental or physical disabilities. My duties are to be punctual and attentive in every course, take diligent and organized notes, and to submit those notes online within a specified time following the class. This requires me to excel in areas of organization, punctuality, excellent typing speed and accuracy as well as attention to detail. It requires great communication and accountability as well as the position deals with confidential legal information. I received this position after being promoted from a Peer Note Taker starting in 9/2017.

In the Department of German and Scandinavian, I assist professors, graduate employees, faculty and students with office support. I design all of the course fliers and advertise them around the university campus. I also design fliers for large scale events with guest speakers from around the nation. I design presentations for events like Spring Celebration where honors, awards, and scholarships are distributed. I help organize events like annual commencement and other department advertising events. I operate large scale office equipment like xerox printers and scanners, label makers, and other office programs.

As a barista I was cross-trained in making all types of beverages as well as preparing and serving food. Through training new employees and advertising daily promotions I was able to boost sales and achieve goals set by management. I worked at the front register and manage the drive through while supporting the entire store. Throughout the day I handled transactions by cash, credit and gift cards as I assist customers about our various products. I also help with the opening and closing procedures of the store.
