As a Direct Support Professional, I worked one-on-one with adults who had intellectual disabilities. My main goal was to help these adults grow and reach their goals by supporting them in their endeavors and creating a safe community. I was able to succeed in this by leveraging my psychology background and passion for helping others.

My internship with Patterson Horth allowed me to wear multiple hats. I assisted in the creation of brochures, e-mail campaigns, and on-line promotion. I helped guide the decision making process for the modernization of the company’s website. I was able to play a role in increasing the company’s search engine optimization by publishing descriptive content, creating good navigation links, and connecting the website to social media outlets. As an undegraduate research assistant, I co-led two research projects: specializing in ADHD, OCD, and language research. I had the opportunity to present two posters at two national conferences: Association for Psychological Science, NYC (2015) and Association for Psychological Science, Chicago (2016). As an intern at the MDA, I assisted the executive camp coordinator in planning a free week long camp for 75 kids with a muscular disorder. I organized, updated, and maintained all camper’s medical records and documents by leveraging existing technology to help facilitate an easy way of searching for documents.
