As a coordinator, I assist my team in running the front end of the store where the check out, customer service, and shopping cart return are located. Being a part of the management team taught me a lot about working under pressure. I learned to make logical decisions quickly under pressure. My primary responsibility is to fix problems that the cashiers may encounter, such as a damaged product, angry customer, or a malfunctioning register. This has improved my problem solving skills and communication with customers. I have also trained about 30 cashiers on bagging, running the register, and workplace safety.

The Chapman lab investigates transcription factors during development, specifically in the T Box family. My project investigates the consequences of ectopically expressing a transcription factor, Tbx6, in the notochord of transgenic mouse embryos. I have done in situ hybridization to ensure the effectiveness of the expression system and to observe the effects of Tbx6 expression on the notochord. I have also dissected embryos to obtained skeletons for staining to observe gross abnormalities in skeletal structure.

As an undergraduate teaching assistant (UTA) for Bio I, I was responsible for attending lecture, writing exam questions, leading review sessions, holding weekly office hours, and teaching recitation alongside two other UTAs weekly. Because this was an introductory class, I had the opportunity to mentor the freshmen in my recitation and offer advice about research, volunteering, and dealing with stress in general. This experience taught me that I love to teach and as a physician, I will be able to teach my patients about their conditions.As an undergraduate teaching assistant for this upper level Human Physiology course, I was responsible for leading review sessions, attending lecture, holding biweekly office hours, writing exam questions, and proofreading the exams. In addition to this, I went over weekly worksheets with a group of eight students to review the information from lecture that week. I was able to learn the information on a deeper level, which has given me excellent background knowledge about the human body.
