Both in the shelter and on the 24-Hour Hotline I engage in active listening to ensure all survivors have a knowledgeable, trauma-informed, and empathetic person to support them in accessing resources and services. These include crisis intervention, safety planning, emotional support, advocacy, and providing appropriate referrals. As a shelter advocate, I help victims receive immediate support by working with local hospitals and Law Enforcement. In the shelter, I ensure the client's basic needs are met by stocking fun and nutritious food and other necessary items, keeping the group spaces clean, and toys and self-care items readily available. Some days I may be putting away donations while other days I might be engaged in a lively game of charades with children residing in the shelter.

I was an Assistant Canvass Director with the Fund for Equality, a branch of the Public Interest Network. Our team raised funds and awareness for a piece of federal legislation called the Equality Act.
