About Madison Santella, Ms, Rdn, Ld
Registered Dietitian | Licensed Dietitian | Master's of Science My entrance to the field of dietetics began at The University of Alabama, where I obtained a Bachelor's of Science degree in both Food & Nutrition and Italian Language & Literature. I completed a combined dietetic internship and graduate education program at West Virginia University, receiving a Master's of Science in Food and Nutritional Sciences. During my time, in addition to my duties as a graduate student, dietetic intern, and research assistant, I chose to complete a thesis focused on a "learn first, practice second" intervention to increase nutrition-related knowledge, attitudes, and self-efficacy among multidisciplinary health professionals. This involved planning and implementing both domestic and international research, as we emphasized a Mediterranean approach to disease treatment and prevention. I made use of my background in both Italian and nutrition to lead our groups on a culinary and cultural tour from farm to table in Tuscany, Italy.I began my career as a Registered Dietitian in a clinical position, being in charge of nutrition assessments and interventions for ICU and main acute stay patients. I then transitioned into my current role as a Policy, Systems, and Environment (PSE) Coordinator for Adagio Health Inc. where I hope to be an agent of change for communities in western Pennsylvania.
