Engaging Adolescents and Young Adults with Cancer via a Social Support App: a research project funded by the American Cancer Society-- Associate Professor Dr. Allison Lazard has led our team in our mission to optimize a peer support app for adolescents and young adults with cancer. As a designer, my role was to help develop prototypes of app features that could enhance the feeling that “someone is on the other side” of a digital connection. Using research and input from subject matter experts, I also wrote simulated conversations to be used for both the prototype and survey purposes to assess behavior and determine how young adults with cancer would use the app.

Closing the Gap in Socioeconomic Disparities in Cancer: Using Neuroscience and Social Psychology to Improve Cancer Prevention Messaging (funded by the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center)-- This research project is part of a collaboration between Dr. Lazard and UNC's Department of Psychology and Neuroscience. My role was to help the team develop a series of cancer-prevention behavior messages to be evaluated for their effectiveness in inducing behavior change across the socioeconomic status (SES) spectrum.
