Selected results achieved under my leadership or with significant contributions from me and my staff: Securing Denmark’s contributions to NATO’s DIANA initiative and NATO’s Innovation Fund through close cooperation with research institutions, funds, other government departments, business organisations and NATO itself. The results so far has been remarkable and widely recognized. We have positioned Denmark as a key contributor to NATO’s deep tech agenda and we have increased the Ministry of Defence’ awareness of the threats and opportunities posed by emerging and disruptive technologies. Defining NATO’s strategic approach to resilience by developing a concept that respects national responsibility whilst underlining collective commitment. Through active promotion, we gained support from influential allies and NATO’s international Staff, leading the Secretary General to adopt and recommend the concept to the Heads of State and Government. The concept was approved at the NATO Summit in 2021. When implemented, the Alliance increases its resilience to future threats and hazards and improves the civil sector support to military operations. Reshaping the Government’s approach to cross-cutting departmental crisis management during the Ukraine Crisis with emphasis on strategic, whole-of-government involvement. This has resulted in enhanced situational awareness, better inter-governmental coordination and overview and improved long term planning. This has enabled the Government to respond timely and effectively to the volatile situation in Ukraine and to the domestic knock-on effects. Defining and mapping critical national infrastructure. This has provided much needed clarity to a complex area. The mapping includes state, local and privately owned critical infrastructure. It provides a solid baseline for the broad spectrum of efforts to protect vital functions and safeguard and maintain a well-functioning society when Denmark is confronted with natural hazards and man-made threats.
