My responsibilities include medical evaluations, triage, treatment of ill or injured children from the Early Childhood Program (ages 3 and 4) to 5th graders, as well as any needs for the staff, within my scope of practice and the requirements of the school district. I am responsible for ongoing management of medical conditions requiring scheduled medications at school as well as monitoring for effectiveness of treatments. Maintaining current health files on all my students is extremely important as I keep up-to-date of needed examinations and vaccinations. I work closely with my preceptor/mentor to organize health screenings through the district for hearing, vision, and dental care. On a monthly basis I perform routine checks of medical equipment in the building, medication inventories, and nurses' notes in the school newsletter for parents and students.
