As part of the Geospatial Services team, I contributed to the full range of production of Urban Tree Canopy Assessments (TCAs), including writing proposals; connecting with clients to identify their goals; finding and preparing data sources, aerial imagery, and LiDAR data; performing data analysis using ArcGIS, QGIS, R studio, Excel, and more; providing QA/QC of remote sensing data products; running accuracy assessments of land cover data; reporting the final results using Adobe InDesignCC; and hosting PowerPoint presentations to internal partners and/or the general public to share findings. I also assisted the Director of Geospatial Services with general task management and weekly team meetings and served as the Assistant Project Manager on several projects, and took on new roles supporting the Urban Forestry Consulting Services and Field Inventory departments.

Goleta, Ca

Coordinated a water quality testing program that analyzed the presence of Trihalomethanes (THMs) in the potable water distribution system. Duties included preparing and running water samples, recording and analyzing the resulting data using Excel, and facilitating weekly meetings to report results. I also developed THM program standard operating procedures, trained all interns on how to run and record samples, and created/enforced a weekly sampling schedule. Additionally, I managed a variety of other tasks such as purchase authorizations, requests for proposals, "jar test" lab experiments, and more.

Orange County, California Area

Planned and coordinated a rapid assessment of the Ranch's oak woodlands to survey for the presence of a harmful new pest, the Gold Spotted Oak Borer. Recruited, trained, and managed volunteers to implement the field survey. Utilized ArcGIS and R Studio to conduct an aerial landscape survey and analyze field data.

Santa Barbara, California Area

Leveraged the power of data to quantify the social impact of the Foodbank in our community. I collected, entered, and analyzed all of the Foodbank's survey data from clients, volunteers, and staff to assess the effectiveness of their many programs. I also assisted with the facilitation of staff and community meetings and organized an Impact Group for community partners in Lompoc.

Greater New York City Area

Designed and implemented initiatives to support public housing residents across all five boroughs seeking to live more environmentally sustainable lives. Duties included facilitating the creation and maintenance of community gardens, planting trees, organizing property cleanup days, presenting energy and water conservation education, grant writing, event planning, and a variety of other projects. Placed through NYC Civic Corps, an AmeriCorps volunteer position reporting to NYC Service and the Office of the Mayor. Served 1700 hours to build capacity for volunteerism in the city and promote environmental stewardship.

San Francisco Bay Area

Assisted PhD students in James Bartolome's Range Ecology Lab in the UC Berkeley Department of Environmental Science, Policy and Management. Duties included soil testing, seed separation and counting, seedling transplanting, wildlife video analysis, research for annotated bibliographies, data entry, species identification in field outings, and more.

Student Outreach and Orientation Department. Guided campus tours, attended main information desk, answered general phone line and information email queries, assisted students in the application and registration processes, prepared mailings, and hosted an annual college fair.
