The past several seasons, under his direction, the orchestra has regularly been recorded and broadcast on WQED-FM (Pittsburgh) and by WRCT-FM. "It has been a very pleasant and satisfying collaboration. Bruce had a thorough knowledge of the scores we were performing and treated his orchestra musicians with respect. Performances went smoothly and were as rehearsed, with no surprises mid-concert. I have worked with many ‘top’ conductors in performances with the PSO, and Maestro Lauffer has matched or exceeded their accompanying ability. I look forward to working with Maestro Lauffer in the future, with no misgivings. Bruce is a serious musician. He is a good listener and takes musical suggestion easily from the soloist. He is quite devoted to conducting and has an excellent reputation in the Pittsburgh area. He obviously enjoys developing orchestras to their fullest potential. The Symphony Board began its search for a new Music Director / Conductor at the end of May, and received applications from conductors representing 20 states, as well as Canada, Chile, Malaysia, and Spain."Symphony Gives Spirited Performance -Conductor Shows Skill"Butler Eagle Newspaper, by Leanne Heaton - Eagle Correspondent - (Review of Butler County Symphony Orchestra Concert - November 5, 2011)......"Pianist Alvin Zhu rocked the house with his dazzling performance of Serge Prokofiev's complex 'Concerto, Piano, No. 3'..........Lauffer displayed equal skill by attentively watching Zhu and keeping the orchestra exactly on pace with the radical changes in mood and tempo. He allowed the orchestra to accompany and enhance the music without overshadowing the featured performer.""A perennial favorite at this time of year, 'Night on Bald Mountain," by Modest Mussorgsky sent chills up spines and conjured visions of dancing demons. The orchestra excelled in the spirited passages, playing with precission and speed. Every section of the orchestra rose to the occasion as they added to the crescendo then gradually receded until the only sounds were the chimes heralding daybreak and the soft sounds of the oboe, harp, and flute concluding the havoc with gentle calm."Leanne Heaton - Butler Eagle Newspaper - Nov. 5, 2011 Concert Review (Nov 9, 2011)
