This program provides a 5-week intensive therapeutic day camp designed specifically for children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). The program is based at the University of Washington Autism Center in Seattle, WA. They offer expert training to graduate and undergraduate students interested in gaining a unique clinical experience working with children with ASD and ADHD. This 7-week internship includes 2 weeks of training and 5 weeks of direct intervention. The training includes didactic sessions, directed readings, case-reviews, and rehearsal of program components. Consulting experts present on key topics related to autism spectrum disorders and ADHD including etiology, genetics, applied behavior analysis, pivotal response treatment, social skills training, and data-based evaluation. The intervention includes the implementation of a complex model of behavioral intervention utilizing social skills training, operational definitions of behavior, a token economy, and meticulous data-based progress monitoring. Supervision and consultation are provided by licensed psychologists, board certified behavior analysts, and speech language pathologists.
