My job includes chasing lawmakers through the halls of Congress on the daily to break news and write enterprise stories about the happenings of the House. I became a House reporter right before lawmakers (barely) avoided a government shutdown at the end of September 2023. Since then, I covered ex-Speaker Kevin McCarthy's ouster, a three-week search to find a GOP replacement and Speaker Mike Johnson's efforts to run a chaotic House.

I reported on agriculture and trade news on the Hill, getting scoops, attending hearings and interviewing lawmakers about their policy priorities. I also covered news out of agencies like the Agriculture Department, Office of the US Trade Representative and Food and Drug Administration. My coverage spanned major events like the White House's first hunger conference in over 50 years, a US-Mexico corn dispute and the national infant formula shortage. I also launched a weekly newsletter to cover progress of the 2023-turned-2024 farm bill.
