Founder And Artistic Director

Current
The Constant Now

In 2021, I founded The Constant Now, a nonprofit arts organization supporting and promoting visual artists of color in Belgium. Our mission is to address the underrepresentation of POC artists by enhancing visibility through exhibitions, talks, and mentoring and encouraging long-term career development. We aim to shift institutional perspectives and reshape the artistic landscape to create a more inclusive environment. The POC POC Mentoring Program connects emerging artists of color with experienced professionals for personalized guidance. The POC POC MANIFESTO features live panel discussions on the importance of diversity in the arts.We operate nomadically, partnering with institutions like Antwerp Art Weekend, De Brakke Grond (Amsterdam), FOMU, Kunsthal Extra City, Kunsthal Gent, M HKA, NW Aalst, S.M.A.K., and WECANDANCE, driving lasting change and creating more inclusive opportunities for artists of color in the art world.

May 2021 - Present

Freelance Project Lead – Freetown (S.M.A.K. Beweegt)

Ghent, Flemish Region, Belgium

Leading the 'Freetown' project in collaboration with the WECANDANCE festival, part of the 'S.M.A.K. Beweegt' initiative. This long-term project (2021-2025) is dedicated to fostering artistic engagement and community interaction, with a strong and unwavering focus on cultural diversity and inclusivity. It aligns with my work at The Constant Now, promoting artists of color within the Belgian art scene.S.M.A.K. Beweegt is a public outreach initiative by S.M.A.K., creating dynamic, community-driven art projects beyond the museum walls, engaging diverse audiences through participatory programs in collaboration with festivals, artists, and cultural organizations

Freelance Curator Contemporary Art

Mechelen, Flemish Region, Belgium

As Curator of Contemporary Art, I collaborated with Hannah Iterbeke, Curator of Old Art, on the exhibition "Knights of the Golden Fleece: A Brilliant Myth Unravelled." Together, we reinterpreted the imagery and myth-making of the chivalric order, sparking a dialogue between past and present. The exhibition featured artists like Marina Abramovic & Ulay, Raphaël Barontini, Alexandra Bavard, Elen Braga, Yentl Demunter, Karim El Maktafi, Mous Lamrabat, and Randa Maroufi.Additionally, I collaborated with former Chief Curator Samuel Mareel (now working at KMSKA) to recontextualize the museum’s permanent collection by bringing contemporary art into conversation with historical works. This initiative featured artists such as Younes Baba-Ali, Peter Brathwaite, Berlinde De Bruyckere, Anouk De Clercq, Sofie Muller, Leonard Pongo, Subin Son, Narcisse Tordoir, and Randa Maroufi. These projects allowed me to leverage my curatorial expertise and network, bridging historical and contemporary art to offer audiences fresh perspectives. It was a transformative experience that expanded the boundaries of curatorial practice.
