As from September 2024 Magchiel Groot joined London based Lendable as Head of Capital Solutions. He has over 30 years of experience in corporate banking, project and structured finance as well as private equity. He started his banking career in 1993 working for Deutsche Bank both in Amsterdam and London. He joined the Africa team at the Netherlands Development Finance Company (FMO) in 1998 and was seconded to the Emerging Africa Infrastructure Fund at Standard Bank in London between 2002 and 2005. After a two-year period focusing on China when back at FMO, he then for five years led the desk that originated, structured and executed all structured finance transactions within FMO with a view to further developing FMO’s capital markets activities in emerging markets. Between 2012 and 2019 he worked at FMO's Private Equity Department with a focus on funds in Africa. Prior to joining Lendable he was a Senior Project Director at incubator and fund manager Cardano Development targeting innovative financial sector solutions that accelerate the sustainable development of financial and local capital markets.
