The Makin' Lemonade Fund is comprised of a collective of young, like-minded, passionate and ambitious Gen Z’ers & Millennials who want to make a difference during these uncertain times surrounding the COVID-19 global pandemic. Our team is composed of over 300 high schoolers, college students, and recent graduates from over 100 schools nationwide who are committed to this cause. So far, we have raised over $100,000 for the CDC Foundation, Direct Relief Fund, and Feeding America in just 45 days since starting, and have been featured in several school newspapers as well as on television news outlets such as Fox5 NY, ABC, and NBC NY! At the core, we are the voice of the next generation wanting to make a difference now and quickly to help those in need.

In the Fall 2019 semester, I served as a General Chemistry I Teaching Assistant and Peer Leader to help the students in the classroom with worksheets while answering any questions they had. During the current Spring 2020 semester, I am an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant for Multivariable Calculus and Introduction to Biomedical Engineering. In Multivariable Calculus, I help conduct recitation sessions alongside a graduate teaching assistant and walk around the room answering questions about the problems.

I have begun working with Dr. Zaferiou in the Musculoskeletal Control and Dynamics (MSKCD) Lab on a baseball project this summer, with a focus on pitching and batting. Since the lab was new to Stevens this year, we were responsible for building it from its bare bones. We wrote all the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the hardware we set up for the lab including electromyography (EMG) sensors, Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs), dynamometer, the marker-less motion capture system, and the sound system components for the future sonification of data. During this short amount of time, we were able to efficiently set up the lab and collect, sort, and analyze data collected during a batting session of a member of our Stevens Baseball team using MatLab.

I am employed as a Peer Tutor by the Academic Support Center at Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ. I am paired up with students who request a tutor in specific subjects that I offer and meet with them to help them understand course material and perform well in their classes. I am have weekly shift(s) in the Walk-In Tutoring Center where any student can walk in and approach me for any of the courses that I tutor. I enjoy this opportunity because it gives me the chance to meet a lot of new people and get the chance to be able to help them. It can also be challenging because you have to be creative at times in finding new ways to explain concepts to students who may not understand it the first time.
