I taught 7th Grade science to students ranging from honors, to special ed, to English language learners. I participated in Professional Learning communities that align teaching strategies and activities to the district curriculum to help prepare students for the district assessments and the CAST (California Science Test). I also participated in multiple forms of professional sharing such as classroom observations and mini Professional Development sessions. While there I completed “Secondary CM (Constructing Meaning)” training, designed to promote learning goals that include both content and language objectives using a functional language approach.

I taught 8th grade science and collaborated with 8th Grade science teachers to create 3 new NGSS centered units. I also participated in SET training on NGSS curriculum and completed Essential Elements of Instruction training course.

Science/ Social Studies teacher- Taught 3 different level 7th grade classes (AIG, AVID, and regular) for both Science and Social Studies one year and then 8th grade Sci/SS. Participated regularly in Professional Learning Communities and professional development opportunities. I was selected to be a consultant for a Globally Competent Teaching Team out of University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. I have also completed several professional development courses taught through Onslow County including Adolescent Reading Strategies, Introduction to Gifted Students, Differentiation and Understanding the needs of Gifted Students.

Science teacher- Taught three different level biology classes, two physics levels, a College preparatory Biology class and an ecology class. Students were native Thai speakers but were in an English program where certain core classes are taught in English.

Biology teacher- Taught six life science classes using a variety of instructional methods. I taught honors, general and inclusion classes. Worked with both a mentor teacher and a special education co-teacher to create unit plans based on the Core Learning Goals of the Maryland Voluntary State Curriculum.
