I lead the Research Development (RD) Core at IHSI, which develops and implements grant getting trainings and faculty development programs, and provides proposal development support for health sciences researchers across campus. I also provide programming support for the Microbial Systems Initiative.

I continued to support educational and research programs for the Mayo Clinic & Illinois Alliance, and worked on developing the Precision Medicine Program at IHSI.

I was responsible for all aspects of research administration for the Mayo-Illinois Alliance. This includes developing the messaging for promotion of the Alliance, managing the review process for the Illinois-sponsored SURF students, organizing workshops to launch further research collaborations between Mayo and Illinois researchers, and overseeing the.

I built on my expertise with metagenomics and applied these techniques to studying human-associated microbiomes involved in various diseases, including interstitial cystitis, bacterial vaginosis, and colorectal cancer. I developed and optimized the 16S MiSeq protocol for our lab that has been used in a number of labs at Illinois and the Mayo Clinic. I.
