This position allows me to not only serve other members of my chapter but to continue to exercise my love for leadership and initiative which is something that is incredibly important to the fundamentals of my life. I began work as a student journalist my sophomore year of high school where I reported for our student publication. This publication blessed me with some of the greatest experiences of my life thus far and completely solidified my interest in pursing a career in journalism.I believe that journalism is purely the voice for the voiceless and be used for the benefit of humanity. Everyone has a story to be told but many lack the opportunity to share that story with the world and it is my determination to share their story with the community and those beyond it. I have carried my journalism career into college and work as a news reporter for the WKU College Heights Herald, often referred to as the Herald. My work for the Herald thus far has included political works, feature stories, event coverage, and briefs. The opportunity to write for the Herald has presented life changing opportunities to me. I am proud to be the 2024 summer intern for the Lexington Herald-Leader and transfer my skills to a real news room and report for events happening in the Lexington Community. As a journalist, I am always building upon the information that I know and working to build my knowledge and relay messages better to the community that I serve.
