Suzuki LabResearching electronic and magnetic properties of (111)-oriented surfaces and interfaces in complex oxide superlattice systems.• Studied emergent interfacial ferromagnetism in (111)-oriented LaNiO3; discovered that a unique strain state at the (111) interface results in a novel magnetic phase isolated to the first two unit cells of material (~4 Å).• Investigated enhancement (3x increase in moment) of interfacial ferromagnetism enabled through growth of CaRuO3/CaMnO3 heterostructures in the (111) orientation.
