I’m on a journey to bridge the gap between engineering and healthcare, particularly in diagnostics and therapeutics. As a first-year master’s student in bioengineering at the University of California, San Diego, I’m exploring how engineering can redefine the future of medicine. I recently joined the Swartz Center for Computational Neuroscience, where I’m tackling one of healthcare’s toughest challenges: diagnosing dementia with greater accuracy. By working with EEG brain imaging data, I aim to identify biomarkers that could improve dementia diagnosis and, ultimately, patient care.Before diving into biomedical engineering, I spent four years in business strategy for a leading PC company, working across diverse markets in Asia, India, and the U.S. Back then, our procurement strategy was largely reactive—we tackled rising IC and mechanical material costs but struggled to pinpoint why they were climbing. That changed when I dove into data. On a key project, I used time series and regression models to analyze cost trends across generations, uncovering patterns and drivers previously hidden in the data. This new clarity enabled us to shift from a reactive approach to a proactive, data-driven strategy—one that allowed us to forecast expenses, optimize negotiations, and achieve better deals across regions. Through these experiences, I discovered the power of storytelling in data. It wasn’t just about the numbers—it was about transforming complex data into narratives that engaged stakeholders and led to smarter, more informed decisions. This eye-opening realization about data's potential and impact inspired me to apply my skills to more meaningful way in healthcare. Alongside my studies and professional experience, I have a deep interest in entrepreneurship and a passion for yoga. As a dedicated yoga practitioner, I’ve seen the impact of posture on physical well-being and am inspired to make sports injury prevention more accessible. My goal is to blend technology with wellness by developing a posture-tracking device that could enhance people’s lives.
