Maggie Murphy has 25+ years experience in television development and production. She currently works at Universal TV and as an independent executive producer. Most recently she was head of Shaftesbury U.S. and founded the company’s L.A. division. She was Executive Producer of HOUDINI & DOYLE from HOUSE creator David Shore, which she sold internationally from its developmental inception to FOX, SHAW, and ITV where it aired concurrently and is now streaming on Amazon. She also consults at Universal Studios with Vin Diesel’s company One Race. Previously, she’s been the development executive for David Kelley, SVP of Drama Development for UPN/CW, and SVP at Regency TV. She’s developed shows with top talent including Darren Star (SEX IN THE CITY), Howard Gordon (HOMELAND), Diablo Cody (JUNO), Rob Thomas (VERONICA MARS), Ron Moore (OUTLANDER), among others. Maggie helped develop many shows including ALLY MCBEAL, ROSWELL, BUFFY and VERONICA MARS and is currently an Associate Professor at LMU where she is Head of the Creative Producing Program. She taught for 10 years in the UCLA Producers Program and teaches at programs around the world including Midpoint (Prague and Hungary), Serial Eyes (Berlin), Erich Pommer Institut (Potsdam), Sorbonne University (Paris), and the Sarajevo Film Festival.
